The two bridges connect Osobowice district in the north with the central part of the city. The northern bridge crosses Odra, the southern one – the channel. Both of them have been constructed between 1895-1897.
Interestingly, before, there was a different wooden bridge reaching Osobowice (few hundreds meters away), and it was crossing the river only (unlike today – the bridge covers the whole area between embankments) – in case of high water it wasn’t possible even to get to the bridge.
